Yip, you guessed it, I’m still sick, worst thing is how it’s now affecting Lizzie. She doesn’t sleep well and feeding is a struggle, it’s all a bit poop! It’s been a crazy wet, wild and mixed weekend, but we did have some sun on and off today, which was pleasant and prompted me to get out and do that Photoshoot of Lizzie I’ve been dying to do! It was lovely. We took some props, popped on a lovely, warm, girly outfit and headed off to the local, quiet, park where we’d be pretty much undisturbed 🙂
It started with a tickle, then it metastasised and now it’s a demon cold from hell. One that has now taken my poor daughter too 😦 We are a sorry state of a family right now. James started coughing…it’s all down hill from there. I’m feeling very sorry for myself, mostly because I feel so poorly all my activities and fun stuff I had lined up have been discarded into a snotty and dusty heap. I’m in the middle of making wind chimes for Lizzie’s room, I have a couple of my own art canvas projects to start and finish for LIzzie’s room now the glue gun has arrived and a bunch of crafts for halloween to be getting on with and updating you all with but can I find the energy? No 😦 I’m considering intravenous caffeine…PURE CAFFEINE.
This is for the rescue I founded with one of my best friends, SRAN: Sophie’s Refuge for Animals in Need – It’s gone from strength to strength but as all rescues do, rely on public support, help and donations to keep things functioning. If you’re in the UK and fancy an afternoon out in Nottingham, please do book a slot and come along, meet the team, support a fantastic cause and have some ace photos taken of you and your furry best friend(s) Please click the link and support our little rescue, we support the whole of the UK taking in and rehoming animals from all over ❤
We had a scheduled appointment with our Health Visitor today at the clinic – regular weigh in, check up, make sure mum and baby are doing well, that kind of thing – I actually really like the health visitors at our GP, they aren’t bossy, pushy or mean, they allow mum’s to figure things out for themselves with gentle guidance and plenty of reassurance and you can message or call anytime if you need them. They don’t force their opinions on you either, which I was all ready to defend myself continuously after hearing a LOT of bad press about HV’s but we co-sleep, started weaning at 4 months, breastfeed and formula feed, no judgement on how and what I feed as long as salt and sugars are kept an eye on. It’s refreshing and I can’t fault them and certainly can’t thank them enough as they’ve been superb with us – So thank you Team HV at Bilborough Medical Centre!
I have mixed opinions however about Social Services, which is a whole other story!
It’s been a busy few days here at The Nook, I finally got called to do the Autumn Themed Photoshoot outdoors with a family of 7 (plus 1 dog!) It was a lot of fun, a long day though, and the kids were fantastic. The shoot was very relaxed, a lot of the shots were taken candidly rather than deliberately posed for and the kids were keen to set up their own ides of things as well, which was just lovely.
Today, as you know, is Creation Station day, however, we weren’t able to attend this morning because I’m feeling somewhat rough. I’ve had another flare of my Arthritis and my knees, hands and elbow are hot, swollen and very painful. Not only that, I took my Humira Injection last night (usually on a Tuesday, but can’t be taken when you’re unwell) it was delayed and I didn’t even think about what day today was. Basically Humira knocks me flat on my ass for at least a day, the day after the injection – headaches, nausea, extreme lethargy, the upside is it usually knocks the inflammation on the head, but not this week 😦
I cannot express my utter delight this afternoon when I received an email from Ruby Rocks announcing me as their Giveaway Winner! Absolutely bowled over – It’s been so lovely to win such wonderful prizes lately; a turn of luck it would seem. Huge THANK YOU to Ruby Rocks and cannot wait for the items to arrive and of course I will take a photo as they have requested wearing the lovely items they send – VERY excited mummy! What mummy doesn’t need a gorgeous new outfit to lift her spirits after giving birth and helping her feel good about herself again? Perfect!
Lizzie and I went on a little shopping trip today and it was all very spur of the moment. It’s gotten quite cold here all of a sudden and Lizzie’s winter wardrobe is somewhat lacking, so I had a quick chat with James and we decided to meet at lunch so we could chose a snowsuit/pram suit for her. Straight to TK Maxx!
Yesterday there was a distinct lack of posting on my behalf, my apologies. It was one of those days that got away from us. We knew it was going to be a long one, but it just kept going. Basically the water tank in our attic was old, rusting and falling apart and in desperate need of replacing, so a couple of weeks ago James bought a new one, one that won’t rust and we had to wait until his dad was available to come up from Cambridgeshire to help him install it.
That was yesterday. They had to go buy some materials and tools, re-position pipes, get the tank to the attic and build a custom support for it to sit on. It took ALL DAY. A good few hours, James said…well they started at 11am and finished around 9pm at night.
I still can’t quite believe this has taken me 6 months to do! I’m quite a keen photographer, I’ve shot pet portraits, worked for rescues, done weddings and commercial stuff and this is the first little shoot I’ve done with my own daughter, despite always having my phone in her face. Shame on me!
