Today, as you know, is Creation Station day, however, we weren’t able to attend this morning because I’m feeling somewhat rough. I’ve had another flare of my Arthritis and my knees, hands and elbow are hot, swollen and very painful. Not only that, I took my Humira Injection last night (usually on a Tuesday, but can’t be taken when you’re unwell) it was delayed and I didn’t even think about what day today was. Basically Humira knocks me flat on my ass for at least a day, the day after the injection – headaches, nausea, extreme lethargy, the upside is it usually knocks the inflammation on the head, but not this week 😦
This is quite possibly my favourite activity we’ve done to date and it was fairly mess free and provided a whole range of new textures and experiences. We have a big box full of off-cut fabric pieces of all kinds of materials, patterns, colours and textures and I decided to grab a piece, cut a rough canvas out and give it to Lizzie to paint on.
This really is the simplest of crafts. It’s quick, easy and less messy than carving and gutting a pumpkin (but secretly who doesn’t love to carve up a pumpkin for Halloween?)
There are only a few required items:
- Empty Jars
- Tissue Paper
- Black Card/Paper
- PVA Glue
- Tea Light
Grab your supplies and let’s get making!
Messy play is one of our favourite things to do here at The Nook and it doesn’t matter how much mess it makes, in fact, the more mess the better! The textures and look of curiosity and wonder as my daughter explores new sensations, knowledge and skills is something I don’t think I’ll ever be able to take for granted, it’s beautiful.
B&Q Kids Workshops
Straight information from their website:
How long do the workshops last and how much do they cost?
Our classes run on Saturday’s and Sunday’s from 10:30 – 11:30am and are FREE for B&Q Club Members (which is free to join) or just £5 for non B&Q Club members.
Do we need to bring anything with us?
Workshops are suitable for kids aged 7-11 and must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Dont worry, we’ll provide the materials you need and our experts will guide you step by step on how to make something from scratch.
What will my child learn?
With the help of our friendly experts, we’ll show you how to make something fun. You’ll learn basic DIY skills such as sawing, drilling, gluing and nailing and get to take your project home with you.
For more information please follow the link above and find out where your nearest classes are! Great little education and fun activity for the kids to get up to on weekends 🙂
The Creation Station – Baby Discovery Class is VERY popular and I feel quite lucky we have a spot each week because it’s always busy, but fun, lively, noisy and stimulating for little minds. Every week Lizzie goes, a few moments out the door after the class and she’s out like a light!
Rachel is the leader of this particular class and she’s just lovely and keen to make a fuss of all the children and I can’t fault her, she’s always willing to help me out a little more because I really struggle to get down on the floor to let Lizzie play with the other babies and explore the sensory bag or do floor messy play, so often Lizzie will go for a play for a few moments with her whilst I sit close by and I’m really grateful, so THANK YOU RACHEL! ❤
Today I went to test out my hips to see just how they would hold up “returning to normal routine” as suggested by the surgeon. Well, not too bad actually. They didn’t enjoy the sudden stops and starts of the bus, nor too much standing around, but altogether they appear to be somewhat better than how they were, so let’s hope this is something that will continue for a wee while!
Lizzie and I took a wee trip to the shops, we needed to grab some baking powder for a cake I’m going to bake this weekend and a few other odds and ends as well as pick up her prescription of Gaviscon for Infants for her reflux issues (which was way overdue thanks to some messing around by GP and Pharmacy systems – ugh!) We have it now, so back to every feed at last 🙂

Today it feels like not much of anything was done or achieved at all, don’t you just hate days like that? I can’t believe it’s just passed dinner time. I had a few plans as well to make soup and cakes, well the cakes got made, but the soup didn’t. We did manage some work with our naughty boy dogs and they are doing much better. We also went to the shop to buy a hand mixer as we didn’t have one, but that’s it. Really? Where the heck has the day gone…?
